A Speech Language Pathologist diagnoses and treats speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients with a variety of conditions. Helps patients improve their ability to make sounds or use language, or develop non-spoken means of communication. May specialize in working with patients of a certain age group, or treat speech problems resulting from a condition such as a stroke or cleft palate. Works in schools, hospitals and other healthcare facilities and works closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other therapists.

Summary:

The speech language pathologist will deliver competent and skilled care to patients and families according their identified needs. The speech language pathologist will deliver care with a team-orientation, an emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgment and appropriate decision-making abilities that take into consideration evidenced based practice. The speech language pathologist assesses and implements direct services for outpatients of the Exercise Respiratory Center for the following: voice and respiratory disorders including those occurring during sports/exercise.

Education/Experience:

Masters degree in Speech/language pathology. Pediatric experience preferred. Experience treating voice disorders, breathing/respiratory disorders and/or athletes preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

BLS certification within 30 days of employment required. State license or eligible for state licensure Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech/Language Pathology.
