Consult with other members of the Rehabilitation Team to select the most appropriate therapeutic program for individual patients, based on patient needs and capabilities. Select activities that are appropriate and individualized for each patient. Teach patients/caregivers the skills and techniques consistent with the speech therapy plan of care. Prepare notes/reports summarizing patient's reactions to therapy. Conduct internal training programs for medical and nursing staff on speech language pathology techniques and objectives. Serve as a clinical instructor for student affiliations. Participate in performance improvement and program development initiatives as requested. Integrate principles of age-specific care into all aspects of practice. Initiate collaborative interactions with physicians and other hospital staff to improve patient care outcomes. Support inpatient and outpatient areas when needed. Meet productivity expectations and positively assist department in achieving financial goals. Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Complete assigned tasks within timeframes allocated. Utilize work time wisely and efficiently, providing appropriate levels of care to patients. Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services. Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care. Masters or better in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
