Job Title:
Speech-Language Pathologist - Position will be based at Stewartsville Elementary School and serve the Staunton River Zone schools.

Job Summary:
The purpose of this job is to provide speech/language screenings, evaluations and services consistent with local, state and federal regulations.
Essential Duties:
Provides speech/language services consistent with local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines. Serves as a resource to school staff members in development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement. Schedules meetings with appropriate persons to develop an Individualized Education Program for each speech challenged student. Provides a therapeutic program with goals and objectives from the student's Individualized Education Program to meet the student's needs for speech and language assistance. Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments. Provides screening to identify speech impaired students at regular intervals and at specified levels. Assists in appropriate referrals of individual students to agencies and specialists in the community as needed. Confers with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities when requested and appropriate. Provides information, support and counseling to parents and families of speech/language handicapped students when appropriate. Provides staff development and serves as a resource to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvement. Maintains thorough ongoing records for each individual student receiving therapy including timely submission of records required as part of the IEP process (eligibility, placement, reevaluation and dismissal process), therapy data and all processes required for Medicaid billing. Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Speech Pathology and six (6) years of closely related experience. State Licensure by the VA Board of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
