Speech Language Pathologist Matthew's Center for Visual Learning - 3.5 Manassas, VA Job Details Part-time | Full-time $70,000 - $85,000 a year 6 days ago Qualifications Working with individuals with developmental disabilities Teamwork Master's degree Lesson planning Teaching Full Job Description Matthew's Center is a non-profit organization, education-based organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and families affected by autism and related disabilities. We contract with many jurisdictions and parents to provide 1:1 data-driven instruction. The primary focus is placed on the development and improvement of functional communication skills, daily living skills, play/social skills, and implementing an effective behavior intervention plan based on positive behavioral supports. Skills are taught using ABA techniques in a natural environment. We are currently in search of a Speech Pathologist to provide individual and group speech and language therapy based on the needs identified in students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate students receiving services to collect information on type and degree of impairment(s) in order to develop individualized lesson plans and to prepare instructional materials that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of assigned students.
Design, develop, and employ alternative diagnostic or communication devices and strategies. Work closely with IEP team of students receiving services to coordinate therapy with other activities.
  • Develop, implement and monitor the students' IEPs in collaboration with instructional staff, parents and other IEP team members. Participate in IEP meetings as requested. Support instructional staff in the classrooms to ensure communication skills are being practiced throughout the day.
  • Assist in the implementation of the plan for managing student behaviors in accordance with established guidelines using a variety of positive behavioral supports.
Qualifications:
  • Licensed by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech Pathology OR a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a valid Virginia five-year renewable postgraduate professional license with an endorsement in Special Education Speech-language Disorders PreK-12 or qualify to obtain a Virginia teaching license. CCC-SLP certification preferred.
  • 1 year experience preferred. Experience in autism and/or special education preferred.
  • Must undergo criminal background checks and child protective service registry check.
