Job Description
Position Summary:
A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will evaluate and treat residents/patients with temporary or long-term speech, hearing, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities in compliance with state and federal guidelines. They will evaluate the resident's/patient's speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, and fluency and develop treatment plans. They will treat the residents/patients based on a physician's treatment plan. Essential Functions Screens and evaluates patients/residents and develops appropriate care plan. Under a physician's direction, provides direct patient/resident treatment based on established plan of care. Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication and/or swallowing or cognitive problems. Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests. Instructs residents/patients, families, and caregivers to monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills. Completes required forms and clinical records in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations. Documents in patient records in an accurate and timely manner. Devises special tools and treatments for the specific needs of patients. Provides comprehensive and compassionate therapy services in a sub-acute/skilled nursing facility setting. Works collaboratively with other rehab therapists and nursing staff in a supportive team-working environment. Maintains resident/patient privacy pursuant to HIPAA. Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts. Other Functions Develops treatment plans, including short and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals. Communicates the resident's/patient's speech therapy program to the family and/or guardian. Keeps written documentation including evaluations, daily notes and weekly summaries. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Current knowledge of effective speech therapy techniques. Familiarity with clinical needs of geriatric population. Strong clinical capabilities.Requirements Qualifications Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology required.Licenses/Certification:
Current license in Speech Language Therapy as required by state law. Valid CPR certification required.Experience:
