UCP of Central Florida provides pediatric therapy at two settings charter schools and medical/out-patient. Charter Schools are a network of 8 PreK-12th grade schools for students with and without disabilities in Central Florida. Therapy is provided as part of a multi-discipline team.
Job Summary:
The Speech Language Pathology assistant (SLPA)
  • Medical is responsible for providing direct therapy services to UCP of Central Florida (UCP) in-clinic and outpatient clients according to all local, state, and federal regulations.
This position reports to the Therapy Practice Office Manager (TPOM) at each campus where services are rendered. The SLPA ensures all clients under her/his care caseload receive a high-quality therapy program by optimizing each client's abilities.
Job Responsibilities:
Submits accurate and timely Superbills on a daily basis according to UCP guidelines. Provides and monitors client coverage and turn in revised schedules on a weekly basis. This requires achieving monthly and annual productivity goals based on existing caseload. Ensures compliance of UCP Confidentiality and HIPAA patient rights procedures for all client files and information on therapist caseload. Assists the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) with speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation. Assists the SLP during assessment of clients exclusive of administration and/or interpretation. Follows documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP. Collects data on client achievement for the purpose of documenting activities, and preparing reports. Documents client performance (i.e., tallying data for the SLP to use; preparing charts, records, and graphs) and report this information to the supervising SLP on a timely basis. Programs and provides instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices as instructed by the SLP. Adapts materials and equipment as directed by the supervising SLP. Assists the supervising SLP in facilitating meetings/communications between therapists, staff, parents, etc. for the purpose of developing plans and/or providing information regarding clients' goals. Attends campus Therapy team meetings, SLPA meetings, and other required meetings Perform other duties as assigned. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders Active Speech Language Pathology Assistant License from the state of
Florida Minimum Experience:
1-year experience preferred in a pediatric population in an interdisciplinary setting.
