Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited four-year college or university. Florida Department of Health license for Speech Language Pathology Assistant
Preferred Qualifications:
School-based experience or pediatric experience in non-school-based settings •Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities:
Assists the SLP to evaluate, including observations when required, students suspected of speech and/or language disorders. Provides therapy (in person or virtual per district guidelines) for eligible students as indicated in the IEP. Assists the SLP in conducting speech/language screenings on kindergarten students, school-age students referred for ESE Programs, and other school-age students referred by teachers/parents, as needed. Maintains progress data on enrolled students. Communicates progress to parents. Conducts re-evaluations for speech and/or language students as required by state or district guidelines and/or IEP team requests under the supervision of a certified or licensed Speech/Language Pathologist. Recommends dismissal of students from the speech and/or language program, under the supervision of a certified or licensed Speech/Language Pathologist. Assists with the transition of students from one level of school to another, (e.g. elementary to middle). Adheres to federal and state regulations and district Programs and Procedures. Keeps records as required by federal and state regulations including daily attendance, consult and collaboration logs, and therapy logs utilizing district-provided software and applications. Promote generalization of speech and/or language skills by working closely with teachers and parents. Work collaboratively as a member of the school/district team, and serve as a resource to school-based personnel. Refer those students who require further evaluation or follow-up services to the appropriate school personnel or community agencies under the guidance and/or supervision of a certified or licensed Speech/Language Pathologist. Maintain applicable professional credentials. Keep current in the field of speech/language pathology. Submit fee for service records as required by the District for Medicaid billing. Performs other job-related functions as assigned. Attend and participate in faculty meetings or other meetings as required.
