DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology is responsible for providing quality instruction in undergraduate and/or graduate courses within the discipline. The faculty member will utilize evidence-based and innovative teaching practices to facilitate student learning; advise, mentor, and supervise students in academic and clinical settings; and participate in curriculum development, review, assessment, and continuous improvement. The faculty member is expected to maintain an active profile of scholarly productivity through research, publications, professional presentations, and other scholarly activities consistent with tenure and promotion expectations. Additional responsibilities include active participation in departmental, college, and university committees and service activities. The successful candidate will maintain professional development and active involvement in professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, clinical practice, student success, and service.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide quality instruction in undergraduate and/or graduate courses within the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Utilize evidence-based and innovative teaching methodologies to promote student engagement, learning, and academic success. Advise, mentor, and supervise students in academic, research, and/or clinical learning experiences. Evaluate student learning and attainment of established learning outcomes in classroom and/or clinical settings. Participate in the development, review, assessment, and continuous improvement of departmental curricula and academic programs. Maintain an active record of scholarly productivity, including research, peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations, and other scholarly activities consistent with tenure and promotion expectations. Participate actively in departmental, college, and university committees and contribute to institutional and professional service activities. Maintain continued professional development and active involvement in relevant professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels. Demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, clinical practice, student success, and service. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication and collaborate professionally with students, faculty, staff, clinical partners, and other stakeholders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Earned Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in Communication Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Minimum of eleven (11) years of relevant professional experience in speech-language pathology, audiology, communication disorders, clinical practice, higher education, or a closely related area. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in clinical practice, teaching, and scholarly research. Evidence of the ability or potential to engage in scholarly activities appropriate for a tenure-track faculty appointment. Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated expertise in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), pediatric speech sound disorders, and/or adult neurogenic communication disorders. Teaching, clinical, research, or scholarly experience in one or more of these specialty areas.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Current Louisiana license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist, or eligibility to obtain Louisiana licensure as required for the position.
