Speech Technician 3.2 3.2 out of 5 stars 2600 Wayland Rd, Berwyn, PA 19312 From $22.50 an hour - Full-time Melmark 309 reviews From $22.50 an hour - Full-time Melmark Overview Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders. Speech Technician Overview Assists in the programming and maintenance of all communication devices of Melmark's students under the supervision of the Speech-Language Pathologist. Maintains and organizes the department's materials including all communication systems, and office supplies. Schedule and Salary Information Monday- Friday 7:30am- 4pm
Starting Rate:
$22.50/hour (+) based on years of relevant experience Requirements Minimum of 50 completed and verified college credits required. Bachelors degree in speech/language pathology, education, special education or closely related field preferred. Training in speech and language services or significant experience with speech technology desired. Minimum of 2 years' experience working within the Special Education Field and experience working with Speech Output Devices is strongly recommended. Basic knowledge in the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis preferred. Some experience working with individuals with significant challenging behaviors preferred. Speech Technician Responsibilities Organizes and maintains Picture Communication Systems and functional communication materials, utilized by Melmark's students. Programs and maintains all Speech Output Devices utilized by students under the supervision of the Speech-Language Pathologist. Provides direct training to staff on maintenance of communication systems Researches new technology for Speech Output Devices, including specially designed instruction, assistive technology and tools. Serves as the product liaison with all device distributors and manufacturers. Assists to maintain and organize Speech department records Updates student protocols and speech programs, as directed by the Speech-Language Pathologist Represents Speech department in team meetings and parent trainings, as required Participates in the collaborative team model at Melmark, which will include all support services required of Melmark staff: student ratio support when needed for educational/residential staff, support in data collection when needed for education and behavioral documentation, support in classroom and group management, support in daily living skills when needed, etc. Benefits Work with a nationally known leader in quality-driven initiatives Generous Paid Time Off Benefits including Vacation, Holiday and Sick!
