Job Description

Nova Day is hiring at its new campus in Chantilly, a suburb of Fairfax County, Virginia. We are a State Approved Private Special Needs School for children with Autism and related neurological differences. We are looking for experienced Speech language Pathology Assistants. Specifically, we are seeking enthusiastic, and motivated SLPA's for our school. This is an amazing opportunity to leave your mark on an already well-established program that excels in providing meaningful and measurable outcomes for our students. The individual should be someone who can lead by example and work towards creating and maintaining a positive work environment for our students as well as our staff. The SLPA provides speech and language services under the supervision of a fully certified and licensed speech-language pathologist, follows the scope of duties outlined by the VA Department of Education for support personnel in speech-language pathology, as well as implements treatment strategies and communication plans designed by the student's primary SLP. Perform duties assigned by the supervising SLP Communicates clearly and effectively with parents and staff Provide direct treatment services under the direction of the supervising SLP Consult regularly with supervising SLP to discuss student progress Overlap with supervising SLP for training Work collaboratively to deliver services to students individually or in small groups across school, community and vocational settings Documents student performance through data collection Demonstrate the ability to work as a team Creates therapy materials and visual supports Assist with AAC device programming and backing up devices as directed by the SLP Models language-based programming for RBT's as directed by supervising SLP Implement oral motor exercises under the direction of the supervising SLP Complete make-up sessions as directed by the supervising SLP Attend multidisciplinary team meetings with the supervising SLP as requested Incorporate current school theme into lessons and activities
