Job Description
The Kingdom East School District is hiring two full time Speech Language Pathologist Assistants (SLPAs). The SLPA assists speech-language pathologists in the assessment and treatment of speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. They implement speech and language programs or activities as planned and directed by speech-language pathologists. They monitor the use of alternative communication devices and systems. The SLPA works under the strict guidelines of speech/language therapy through the direction of the licensed speech/language pathologist (SLP) and adheres to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Code of Ethics for SLPAs. The SLPA provides clinical interventions that provide language skills designed to increase students' abilities to express and receive language necessary to access the general learning environment. Candidates must successfully complete the ParaPro assessment or have an associates or higher degree and complete required SLPA training. The SLPA provides observable student data that meets classroom goals or the IEP Program goals of students with developmental delay and/or other special needs. Position will target goal-directive services to assist students in accessing instruction in a developmentally appropriate, functional and independent manner. Background check, including fingerprinting required upon employment. Ability to drive between assigned locations during the school day is required. The pay range for this position is $20.28-$27.78/hr.
