We're located at Santa Fe Drive and I-5, within walking distance of a park, fitness center, grocery store, pharmacy and restaurants. Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas' campus includes Scripps Clinic Encinitas and an outpatient imaging center. We're home to notable specialty programs including a 24-hour emergency room, accredited stroke care, physical rehabilitation services (including a brain injury day treatment program), our Baby Friendly birthing pavilion and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit. This is a benefited, full-time position (80 hours per pay period) working varied 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday from 2:30 PM-11:00 PM, with occasional call, holiday rotation, and possible weekend shifts. What you'll do: Responsible for the cleaning, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies used in procedures for patient care. Cleans and disinfects equipment requiring decontamination or sterilization according to designated principles of asepsis. Responds to immediate requests for sterilization or delivery of sterilized instruments to insure there is no patient exposure to bioburden. Responsible for testing and recording of sterilizer equipment performance to ensure operating within sterility standards. Maintains established control systems for supplies and equipment processed.
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
Completion of college training program for SPD or online study program or completion of formal on the job training program. Knowledge of sterilizers, surgical instrumentation, and medical equipment. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or CBSPD Certification (must not be provisional). One year of experience in SPD in lieu of certification acceptable upon hire, OR hired into Scripps Sterile Processing Tech Transition Program, but CRCST or CBSPD Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Position Pay Range:
$28.88-$39.71/hour
