52 - $35.36 an hour — 40 hours — Evening — 8-hour shifts (Monday-Friday/3pm - 11:30pm). Evening and weekend shift differential — +2.00/hr. On-call requirement — weekends and Holidays Boulder Community Health is seeking an Advanced Sterile Processing Technician who is assigned full performance level duties responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments, hospital instruments and medical equipment.

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) is required—Options are Sterile Processing and Distribution Certification (CRCST), Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS), or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). Must currently hold one of these certifications.
• A current certificate must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
• 1-2 years of experience working in a sterile processing department required.
• Extensive experience with sterilization techniques, processing instrumentation as well as all other aspects involved with or pertaining to SPD.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• OR Tech experience preferred
• Computer experience preferred
• Inventory experience preferred Responsibilities
• Provides asset management and support for surgical instruments and trays belonging to or consigned to the facility, in accordance with the Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards
• Operates all required equipment and machinery accurately and safely, prepares, assembles and sterilizes instruments and supplies according to parameters of sterilization. Maintains appropriate records, and monitors quality control and infection control standards.
• Accurately handles and cares for instruments appropriately with examination for function, identification and assembly according to SPM and preparation for sterilization; retrieves malfunctioning instruments and ensures repairs are completed.
• Correctly peel-packs supplies, instruments, wraps instruments for sterilization, inspects each instrument for use, function, completeness and cleanliness.
• Ensures safe care for patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all BCH policies, procedures and standards. .
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as a preceptor, mentor and resource to fewer experienced staff.
• Communicate with operating room personnel to provide required instruments.
• Maintains records regarding maintenance of instrumentation and equipment.
• Is responsible for reporting damaged or malfunctioning equipment and obtaining loaner/rental instruments when requested.
• Maintains all surgical trays, equipment and instruments in proper working condition, and educates staff on such.
