• Key Responsibilities:

• Perform all aspects of instrument sterilization processes, specifically for ophthalmic instruments, including decontamination, cleaning, packaging, sterilization, and storage.

Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners, ensuring all are functioning correctly and meeting industry standards. Monitor and document sterilization processes, verifying that all instruments meet safety and compliance guidelines. Collaborate with ophthalmologists, nurses, and other medical staff to ensure timely preparation and availability of sterile instruments for procedures. Conduct regular inventory checks and manage the ordering of necessary supplies for instrument sterilization. Follow and enforce all relevant safety regulations and protocols to minimize the risk of infection or contamination. Participate in continuous education and training to stay updated with advances in sterilization techniques and best practices in the ophthalmology field. Assist in developing and updating sterilization procedures and protocols in line with current healthcare standards.

• Qualifications:

• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (such as CRCST or CSPDT) is required.

Previous experience as a sterilization technician, particularly in an ophthalmology or eye care setting, is preferred. Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining patient safety. Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
