Job Description

Shift :
Mon - Friday, 11am to 5:30pm (30 hours per week). Will orient first 6 weeks on days
Department :
Sterile Processing Capital Region Medical Center Compensation :
Base Pay Range:
$17.92 (entry level qualifications) to $28.27 (highly experienced) per hour based on experience.
Shift Differentials:
Additional $2 per hour for evening shift

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Disassemble, clean, assemble, and test instrumentation for proper functioning. Perform and participate in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling, and packaging of medical/surgical materials including instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functioning supply of materials. Prepare trays and specialty carts for designated areas according to prescribed procedures. Wrap and/or package items for specified areas according to procedures prescribed for those designated areas. Operate instrument tracking systems. Use knowledge of different types of sterilization materials and equipment to choose the appropriate material for sterilization processes. Assist in the maintenance of supply and materials inventory to include documenting usage, issuing, receiving, and recording as assigned. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
