Sterile Processing Technician

SPD Technician The Sterile Processing Tech handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment needed during surgical procedures for an busy ophthalmology ambulatory surgery center. This position if a Monday- Friday position. No holidays, call or weekends required. The SPD Tech understands the procedures being performed and anticipates the needs for the surgical day. The tech is responsible for cleaning, decontaminated and sterilizing the supplies used within the center. In addition to operating room responsibilities, you will also assist with ordering supplies, stocking, and maintaining the necessary supplies and equipment to ensure effective patient care.

Job Duties include:

Decontaminates and sterilizes all instruments needed for surgical cases Checks supplies and equipment required for the surgical procedure Assist Surgical Scrub Techs with the set up of the sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions required for the procedure Assists Perioperative Team with draping the patient Transports instrument trays to Sterile Processing for cleaning Organizes & wraps instrument trays after case Participates in room turnover and prepares room for the next case Manages time effectively

Requirements:

Experience in surgical reprocessing department required; Ophthalmology experience strongly preferred, we are willing to train the right individual for the role. • BLS/CPR Certification • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs to waist, and 10 lbs over head
