We are hiring a Sterile Processing Technician to support our Operating Room team by ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, prepared, sterilized, and available when needed. This is a Full-Time position working Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. An ideal candidate will bring previous healthcare experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and sterile processing. Pay starts at $20/hour and is built out based on experience with a $5,000 Hiring Bonus. Inspect instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and completeness, coordinating repairs and tracking the return of instruments as needed. Verify required instruments and supplies are available and instrument sets are complete prior to surgical procedures. Maintain established standards for aseptic technique, decontamination, preparation, and sterilization within the Sterile Processing Department. Coordinate with OR management to ensure appropriate equipment, supplies, and instrumentation are available for scheduled surgical cases. Clean, process, and return specialty instruments and equipment to their proper locations following use. Assist OR personnel with the decontamination, inspection, preparation, wrapping, labeling, and terminal sterilization of surgical instrumentation. Verify the completeness and accuracy of instrument sets following the sterilization process. Perform and document daily autoclave verification standards in collaboration with other MSH staff. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of instrument sets and assist with organizing and labeling instruments and supplies. Coordinate the exchange, tracking, and return of instrumentation and equipment borrowed from or provided to other facilities. Assist OR management with identifying instrumentation needs related to new procedures and physician requests. Serve as a resource to staff regarding Sterile Processing equipment, instrumentation, and procedures. Coordinate incoming instrumentation and implants with vendor representatives to ensure complete sets are available and consistent with scheduled procedures. Communicate with vendor representatives regarding specialty equipment and direct new representatives and products to OR management. Assist with the coordination and direction of Surgical Technologists who are supporting the Sterile Processing Department, keeping Nurse Managers informed as appropriate. Communicate instrument, equipment, supply, or processing concerns promptly to OR leadership. Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. 1-3 years of related healthcare experience required. Previous Operating Room, Sterile Processing, or healthcare supply chain experience preferred. Sterile Processing Department (SPD) certification preferred. Current BLS certification preferred. Knowledge of the care, handling, processing, and operation of surgical instruments and Sterile Processing equipment. General knowledge of anatomy and operative procedures. Understanding of basic emergency and BLS procedures within the hospital environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and in an orderly manner in a fast-paced surgical environment. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with Surgical Technologists, nurses, leadership, vendors, and other members of the surgical team. Why Midwest Surgical Hospital?
