Job Description

Capital Region Ambulatory Surgery Center (The Bone and Joint Center) is currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Central Sterilization Technician to join our dedicated surgical team. The Central Sterilization Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our surgical operations. Under the direct supervision of the Operating Room Manager, this position is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Decontaminate and clean surgical instruments and equipment using Standard Precautions Assemble, wrap, and sterilize instruments for surgical procedures Operate and monitor sterilization equipment (e.g., autoclaves, Steris systems) Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles and testing (Biological Indicators, DART tests) Inspect equipment for functionality and arrange maintenance or repair as needed Organize sterile storage areas and monitor instrument expiration dates Collaborate with OR staff to ensure case carts and instruments are prepared timely Participate in quality improvement activities and adhere to all infection control standards Perform routine equipment maintenance and assist with inventory control Maintain confidentiality of all medical and organizational information
Qualifications:
CRCST Certification 1 year of central sterilization or related experience preferred Current BLS required Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of surgical instrumentation Strong interpersonal and communication skills Positions are Full Time days, Mon-Fri, no weekend, no call, no holiday!
