STERILE PROCESSING MANAGER

Job Summary Provides direct supervision in the reprocessing and maintenance of reusable instrumentation, medical supplies, and equipment used in health care facility. Oversees distribution of instruments and supplies to surgery. Oversees assigned activities to the department to ensure quality, productivity, and performance expectations are met. Coordinates orientation, training, and scheduling of central sterile processing personnel. Responsibilities Prepares and evaluates daily staff assignments for assigned shifts. Ensure staff is compliant with department procedures and protocols. Assesses quality of services delivery to ensure department quality standards are met, turnaround time is efficient and/or needs are met. Administers an instrument preventative maintenance program. Collects data and prepares reports concerning instrument distribution, loss, and replacement. Actively seeks ways to eliminate errors, reduce turnaround time, maintain workflow and improve customer service. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 3 years experience preferred in sterile processing Previous supervisory experience preferred RN preferred or LPN Certifications Sterile Processing Distribution Certification (CRCST) by IAHCSMM or CBSPD required within 2 years following completing new hire period. Physical Requirements Extended periods of walking, standing, bending, stretching and lifting. Some instrument trays may weigh in excess of 30 pounds. Possible exposure to biohazardous material, possible exposure to carcinogenic and hazardous chemicals and gases. Personal Protective Equipment Follows standar precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
