Central Sterile Processing Technicians play a critical behind-the-scenes role in preventing infection and ensuring safe surgical care. In this fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, you'll support the Operating Room as your primary customer—making sure instruments are cleaned, assembled, sterilized, and ready when patients need them. This role is ideal for individuals who take pride in precision, teamwork, and being recognized as healthcare professionals who truly make a difference. What You'll Do Ensure the timely, accurate cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with regulatory standards and manufacturer instructions Support daily operational flow by maintaining instrument quality and case readiness for surgical services Assemble surgical trays and case carts to meet OR and procedural schedules, helping prevent delays Monitor, document, and interpret sterilization parameters to ensure equipment safety and compliance Operate and troubleshoot decontamination and sterilization equipment Maintain inventory and demonstrate cost-conscious use of supplies Communicate effectively with Operating Room and procedural teams to support safe, efficient care Participate in performance improvement initiatives and ongoing education Contribute to a positive, respectful work environment—one that's an enjoyable place to come to work each day Why You'll Love This Role Day/Evening rotating schedule: 7:00am-3:30pm and 2:30pm-11:00pm Fast-paced environment supporting the Operating Room as the primary customer Recognized as a professional and valued member of the surgical services team Direct impact on patient safety as the first line of defense in infection prevention Career ladder in place with opportunities for advancement and professional growth Supportive leadership structure reporting to the Director of Surgical Services Collaborative culture focused on teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement What Makes You a Great Fit Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and patient safety Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environment Effective communication and teamwork skills Desire to learn, grow, and contribute to a positive workplace culture Ability to stand for an entire shift and lift up to 35 pounds Qualifications High school diploma or GED required No experience required or currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technician or Sterile Processing program OR 1 year of sterile processing experience preferred Continuing education requirements apply per certification and grandfathering standards Licensure & Certification Certification through CBSPD or HSPA (CRCST) required for PA and NY facilities New hires in PA and NY have 18 months from date of hire to obtain certification Act 34 clearance required Grandfathering applies to eligible Central Sterile staff per policy
