Assists Department Supervisor in managing the daily operations of the department, processing surgical instruments and scopes. Demonstrates accountability for operating room readiness ensuring sterile instrumentation and equipment are ready for procedures. Duties & Responsibilities Adheres to rules, regulations and policies. Orients new staff using competency checklist. Maintains current knowledge of sterilization methods and instrument care. Assists with sorting, labeling and issuing of surgical supplies and equipment. Assists with daily inventory to ensure adequate supplies and instrumentation is available. Assist with overseeing decontamination, assembly, sterilization, handling and storage of supplies and equipment. Assist with overseeing sterilization records and recalls on all positive biological readings. Participate in departmental educational programs, staff meetings, and Quality Improvement. Assist in preparation of surgical case carts ensuring carts are complete. Responsible for all other day to day duties of a certified sterile processing tech to include processes of decontamination, instrument processing, and distribution. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of medical terminology, instrumentation and surgical procedures. Must have active certification as CRCST or CBSPDT. Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years of experience in a sterile processing department and knowledge of HLD. Benefits • Medical Insurance & Wellness Offerings.
