Job Description

Sterile Compounding Technician Department:

Lead Sterile Compounding Technician General Role:
The Sterile Compounding Technician is responsible for accurately compounding sterile preparations in compliance with company policies, USP standards, and applicable state and federal regulations. This role supports safe, efficient, and compliant sterile operations within a 503A compounding pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Compound sterile preparations (e.g., injections, ophthalmics, IV admixtures) following approved formulations, master batch records, and SOPs. Perform aseptic techniques within ISO-classified cleanrooms and primary engineering controls. Accurately document compounding activities, lot numbers, beyond-use dates, and quality checks. Maintain cleanliness and organization of cleanrooms, including routine cleaning and disinfection per schedule. Perform equipment setup, calibration checks, and routine maintenance as assigned. Participate in environmental monitoring, media fills, and gloved fingertip testing as required. Adhere to gowning, hygiene, and safety requirements at all times. Identify and report deviations, errors, or out-of-specification results to leadership. Support inventory control of sterile supplies and medications. Collaborate with pharmacists, quality, and leadership to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; pharmacy technician training preferred. Active Pharmacy Technician registration/license as required by state regulations. Prior sterile compounding experience preferred; aseptic technique training required. Working knowledge of USP <797> and applicable USP <800> requirements. Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks in a cleanroom environment.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in a 503A compounding pharmacy. Familiarity with cleanroom operations, environmental monitoring, and quality documentation. Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills.
