Full Job Description Description:
Job Summary:
Assists in the Central Sterile Reprocessing department with maintaining the care of and availability of supplies/instrumentation for scheduled surgical cases. Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Not Applicable Duties and Responsibilities:
To provide the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling, and packaging of surgical instruments, linens, medical/surgical materials and equipment. Provides technical information, support and education to staff, physicians and ancillary staff Completes documentation as required Identifies and communicates service needs to appropriate personnel Assists with the organization/stocking of supplies/instruments required for surgical procedures Assists in Materials Management (receiving, stocking, ordering, etc.) when requested Troubleshoots and responds to electrical/mechanical emergencies in Central Sterile Adheres to standards/principles of CS/OSHA, AORN, AAMI, as well as facility policy and procedure Practices principles/techniques of Universal Precautions, infection control and safety, and fire/emergency Participates in Quality Improvement activities Implements current, cost-effective methods/technologies to improve efficiency and productivity Maintains inventory of sterilized items within surgical services and nursing units Attends a minimum of two (2) educational programs in addition to all mandatory programs Identifies self-learning needs and communicates these needs to the Director of Supply Chain or designee annually Recommends in-service programs Reviews and has working knowledge of manuals and web-based systems on how to operate and care for all equipment and instrumentation Participates in the operation and monitoring of daily testing functions and recording of auto clave sterilizing equipment Protects confidentiality; provides information on a need-to-know basis Assists team members as need arises Maintains working knowledge of facility computer software programs Performs other related and/or required duties Will cross train and share responsibilities with other areas including processing scopes and assisting with endoscopy Regular, predictable attendance is essential to meet required performance standards

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Central Sterile Technician Certification required. Per AAMI guidelines, certification must be achieved within two years from date of hire and maintained throughout employment. At least One (1) year CSR experience preferred Knowledge of AAMI standards/guidelines; Knowledge of
CSR/OSHA
regulations and application to the OR setting
