  • LEAD STERILE PROCESSING TECHNICIAN/ EDUCATOR.

SCHEDULE
  • + 40 hours per week + Day Shift
  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
  • CSPD is instrumental to patient care and provides cleaning, reprocessing & sterilization support services to Surgical Services and UW Medicine customers.
We are open 24/7. We collect, reprocess & stock an average of 6,500 surgical trays and some 6,500 items a week. Our team focuses on compliance with all necessary regulatory requirements and quality assurances in order to provide the highest quality surgical Instruments.
  • POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Education
  • + Act as a resource to the Central Processing staff.
+ Provides adequate training and orientation for present staff and new employees. + Assigns and direct workflow using time allowed, maximizing output. + Assist with developing and implementing comprehensive CSPD training programs in compliance with accreditation standards and organizational policies + Deliver structured education and hands-on training for new and existing sterile processing staff, improving competency and consistency + Integrate best practices and industry guidelines into all educational content + Conduct competency-based assessments in alignment with national sterile processing standards
  • Lead
  • + Lead quality improvement initiatives using training data, audits, and performance metrics + Promote best practices in infection prevention, sterilization, and high-level disinfection + Lead decontamination, sterilization, and packing of surgical equipment + Identify and tag damaged equipment + Assemble special emergency trays (examples: Crash Laparotromy Set, Peripheral Vascular Set, Chest Set).
+ Assemble, set up, test and document the set up and testing of specialized equipment (example: drills and flexible scopes). + Load autoclave carts and process instruments, equipment and supplies through the appropriate sterilization cycle. + Verify correct sterilization cycles by checking and signing autoclave printouts and sterilizer load cards. + Perform and document sterilizer function tests using vacuum, chemical and biological indicators; take appropriate action for abnormal results. + Inventory and store sterile instruments, equipment and supplies; restock or re-supply as necessary to maintain appropriate par levels.
  • REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • + High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience performing the work of a Hospital Central Services Technician II. + Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration
