Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Surgical Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will support the dentist during a variety of surgical procedures, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and comfortable experience for patients. Your expertise in surgical chairside assisting, infection control, and dental terminology will help uphold the highest standards of patient care and safety. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your skills directly contribute to improving patients' oral health and confidence. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during surgical procedures, including extractions, implant placements, and other complex treatments including All-on-X, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary equipment such as 3D scanners and medical imaging devices, and ensuring all supplies are readily available. Take and develop dental X-rays while maintaining proper infection control and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Open Dental, accurately documenting procedures, medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support patient comfort by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and assisting with anesthesia administration when necessary. Maintain a clean and sterile environment by following strict infection control protocols and adhering to OSHA standards. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient patient flow, including scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical documentation. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Surgical Assistant. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to oral health. Skilled in surgical chairside assisting techniques including handling dental instruments, managing medical imaging equipment, and taking X-rays. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with sedation or anesthesia procedures when required. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in medical records management and documentation of procedures. Certification in radiography (X-ray) for dental assistants is required. $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
