Job Description

Overview Join a dynamic and fast-paced Oral Surgery practice as a Surgical Assistant dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and supporting our team of experienced surgeons. This vital role involves assisting during surgical procedures, managing patient comfort, and ensuring the highest standards of infection control and safety. Responsibilities Assist oral surgeons during a variety of surgical procedures, including extractions, implants, and reconstructive surgeries, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques to maintain infection control standards. Take dental X-rays and medical imaging to aid diagnosis and treatment planning while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage patient comfort by monitoring vital signs, explaining procedures clearly, and providing reassurance throughout treatment. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records using our digital software - WinOMS and ensuring compliance with dental coding and HIPAA guidelines. Support the dental team with administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, managing records, and assisting with front desk duties as a dental receptionist when needed. Demonstrate knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and relevant specialties such as prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and general dentistry to facilitate seamless patient care. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with experience in chairside assisting during complex oral surgeries. Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a sterile environment. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D CBCT scanners for comprehensive diagnostics. Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and basic medical documentation practices aligned with HIPAA standards. Experience working in pediatric dentistry or with pediatric patients is a plus for handling young or anxious patients effectively. Excellent communication skills to collaborate efficiently with the team and educate patients about procedures and post-operative care. $25.00 - $31.00 per hour
