Oral Surgery Assistant

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Surgical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will support surgeons and dental professionals during a variety of surgical procedures, ensuring a smooth, efficient, and safe environment for both patients and staff. Your expertise in chairside assisting, infection control, and medical documentation will help deliver exceptional patient care. Duties Prepare treatment rooms with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to procedures, maintaining strict aseptic technique. Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by handing instruments, retracting tissues, and managing operative tools efficiently. Monitor and record vital signs, medical imaging results, and other relevant patient information during procedures. Ensure accurate documentation of medical records, dental terminology, and procedural details in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as EMR systems, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic. Support the use of advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and X-ray equipment while adhering to radiation safety protocols. Maintain infection control standards by following HIPAA regulations and proper sterilization procedures for all instruments and surfaces. Collaborate with the dental reception team to coordinate patient flow and ensure all medical documentation is complete and compliant with privacy laws. Assist in pediatric dentistry procedures by providing compassionate support tailored to young patients' needs. Manage dental assisting tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing anesthesia supplies, and supporting general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or pediatric dentistry cases as needed. Educate patients on post-operative care instructions and answer questions regarding treatment plans or medical terminology. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is preferred but not require. Experience specifically in surgical assisting is highly preferred but not required.

Pay:

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
