  • Full-time Job Overview Established fee-for-service periodontal and implant practice in Highland Park, IL seeking a dependable, experienced dental assistant.
Surgical and specialty experience is welcome but not required. In this role, you will provide exceptional chairside assistance during periodontal procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety while supporting the clinical team with efficient workflow. Your expertise will contribute to delivering top-tier periodontal care, including complex surgical interventions, in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your skills in a specialized field of dentistry while making a meaningful difference in patients' oral health. Duties Assist the periodontist during surgical procedures such as gum grafts, flap surgeries, and implant placement with precision and aseptic technique Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly, including 3D scanners and medical imaging devices Take and develop dental X-rays, including intraoral and extraoral images, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols Manage patient records using Eaglesoft, documenting vital signs, medical history, and procedural details accurately Provide patient education on periodontal health, post-operative care instructions, and maintain a compassionate approach to patient care Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing medical records Maintain strict infection control standards by following aseptic techniques and understanding anatomy knowledge relevant to procedures Requirements Proven experience as a dental assistant with a focus on surgical or periodontal procedures in a dental clinic setting Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation Working knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy related to periodontics, and infection control practices Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in four-handed dentistry setups for optimal workflow Familiarity with X-ray techniques (PA, BW, FMX, CBCT) Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the clinical team and educate patients of all ages Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and experience handling sensitive medical documentation and coding for billing purposes Join our dedicated team where your expertise will directly impact patients' oral health journeys!
