This role assists with surgical preparation, scrubbing, instrumentation, room turnover, supplies, and other perioperative duties while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, teamwork, and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring required supplies, equipment, and instruments are ready for each case.
- Assist with room turnover, restocking, case preparation, and support for other operating rooms as needed.
- Scrub for surgical procedures, maintain sterile technique, assist surgeons with various procedures by positioning, prepping, retracting, suctioning, suturing, tying.
- Assist with gowning, draping, specimen handling, medication verification/labeling, and surgical field organization.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, circulators, anesthesia providers, and team members to support safe and efficient procedures.
- Operate designated equipment as assigned and follow all facility policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved surgical assisting program and certified by examination through the National Surgical Assistant Association.
- Minimum one year of current Certified Surgical Assistant experience in an operating room setting required.
- Total joint experience required .
- Knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, surgeon preferences, procedures, and equipment.
- Skilled in suturing, retracting, and closing surgical incisions.
- Strong communication, organization, accuracy, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to accurately count sponges, sutures, sharps, and instruments and read preference cards, charts, and instructions.
- Completion of annual mandatory in-services required.
