About the Practice Cohn Plastic Surgery, PC is a premier facial plastic surgery practice on Long Island led by Dr. Jason Cohn, an award-winning, double board-certified Facial Plastic Surgeon and Otolaryngologist (ENT). Dr. Cohn specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive facial surgery, providing state-of-the-art care with a personalized, patient-first approach. Our team is committed to delivering an exceptional patient experience from the first phone call through recovery. We are seeking an experienced Surgical Coordinator who shares our commitment to outstanding patient care and thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
Please note:
This position requires previous surgical coordinator experience. Candidates without prior surgical scheduling experience will not be considered. Position Summary The Surgical Coordinator serves as the primary liaison for cosmetic and reconstructive surgery patients throughout their surgical journey. This individual is responsible for coordinating consultations, educating patients, scheduling procedures, managing surgical logistics, and ensuring a seamless patient experience from consultation through post-operative follow-up. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, personable, and capable of managing multiple priorities while providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities Patient Inquiries and Lead Management Respond promptly to inquiries from lead platforms and prospective patients. Educate patients on cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures. Schedule consultations and enter accurate patient demographics into the EMR. Track all incoming leads and referral sources. Maintain cancellation lists and fill openings when available. Surgical Counseling and Scheduling Meet with patients following consultations to discuss surgical fees and financial policies. Prepare and review written surgical quotes. Follow up with qualified surgical candidates a minimum of three times after consultation if they have not scheduled surgery. Coordinate all aspects of surgical scheduling, including: Operating room scheduling Pre-operative appointments Medical clearances History and Physical documentation Laboratory testing Surgical consent forms Collect surgical deposits and process payments. Ensure cosmetic surgery balances are paid according to office policy before surgery. Monitor the surgical schedule with a goal of maintaining at least 85% block utilization. Obtain insurance prior authorizations for reconstructive procedures. Coordinate with the third-party billing company to ensure timely claim submission and reimbursement. Patient Experience Build trusting relationships with patients by providing compassionate, knowledgeable guidance throughout the surgical process. Answer patient questions before and after surgery. Deliver a welcoming, professional, and supportive experience at every interaction. Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations. Qualifications Previous Surgical Coordinator experience is required . Experience in plastic surgery, facial plastic surgery, ENT, cosmetic surgery, or another surgical specialty is strongly preferred. College degree preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented with a positive, proactive attitude. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Comfortable learning new technology and office software. Willingness to take on a variety of responsibilities as our growing practice continues to evolve.
