Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Surgery Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will support dentists during a wide range of surgical procedures, ensuring smooth clinical operations and exceptional patient care. Your expertise in dental assisting, infection control, and patient management will contribute to creating a welcoming environment where patients feel confident and cared for. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary dental instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use in accordance with infection prevention management protocols. Assist dentists during various surgical procedures such as oral surgery and periodontics by providing chairside support and managing dental instruments efficiently. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology, including 3D scanners when applicable, while adhering to radiation safety standards and HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, documenting treatment details, vital signs, and medical history with precision. Support patient management by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and ensuring comfort throughout visits. Maintain strict adherence to clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and medical records. Control dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and maintaining infection control standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Support the dental team with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and coordinating with the dental receptionist to optimize clinic efficiency. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar clinical role within a dental clinic environment. Strong knowledge of dental equipment including X-ray machines, sterilization tools, and digital imaging systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix. Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures. Ability to interpret dental terminology and medical terminology accurately for documentation purposes. Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and oral surgery procedures. Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care. Certification in Dental Assisting (such as DANB or equivalent) is highly desirable; additional certifications in radiography or infection control are advantageous.
