Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Oral Surgery Assistant to join our dynamic dental team! In this vital role, you will provide exceptional chairside support during oral surgery procedures, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience for our patients. Your expertise will help facilitate efficient surgical workflows, maintain clinical excellence, and uphold the highest standards of infection control and patient care. Duties Assist the oral surgeon during various surgical procedures, including extractions, biopsies, and implant placements, by preparing and passing dental instruments and materials efficiently. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments, ensuring compliance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, and ensuring all documentation aligns with HIPAA regulations. Take high-quality dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced imaging equipment like the 3D scanner to aid diagnosis and treatment planning. Monitor vital signs and medical documentation to ensure patient safety before, during, and after procedures. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive patient information with professionalism. Support general dentistry procedures when needed, including assisting with pediatric dentistry cases or prosthodontics treatments, ensuring four-handed dentistry techniques are followed for efficiency. Qualifications Proven experience as a dental assistant with a focus on oral surgery or general dentistry; familiarity with dental clinic operations is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, dental instruments, equipment operation, and infection control protocols. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Epic, or similar patient management software; experience with medical coding is a plus. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to radiation safety standards; certification in dental x-ray is required. Excellent understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to oral surgery and pediatric dentistry when applicable. Demonstrated commitment to healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures. Exceptional communication skills as a dental receptionist or in patient management roles; ability to provide compassionate patient care in a fast-paced environment. Certification in CPR or healthcare provider training is preferred; knowledge of medical terminology enhances your ability to support clinical documentation.
