  • 13 weeks with possible extension (BI02) Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist I to support the Operating Room (OR) team.
The Surgical Technologist will assist surgeons, nurses, and other surgical team members by maintaining a sterile environment, preparing surgical equipment, anticipating procedural needs, and ensuring safe, high-quality patient care throughout surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of surgical technology principles, sterile technique, instrumentation, and operating room procedures. ResponsibilitiesPreoperative Duties Verify patient identity, surgical procedure, and consent documentation. Assist with patient transport and positioning while following safety standards. Prepare and organize surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment. Perform surgical scrub and maintain sterile gowning and gloving technique. Complete initial instrument, sponge, and sharps counts with the RN. Assist with surgical draping and establishment of the sterile field. Participate in surgical site verification and Time-Out Universal Protocol. Secure sterile tubing, cords, and accessories. Intraoperative Duties Anticipate surgical team needs for instruments, supplies, and equipment. Maintain strict sterile technique throughout procedures. Pass instruments, medications, irrigation solutions, and surgical supplies as directed. Assist with retracting, suctioning, suturing, and operative site management. Support endoscopic and robotic procedures, including camera operation and robotic instrument changes. Perform required surgical counts throughout procedures. Prepare sterile dressings and immobilization devices. Handle and label specimens according to policy. Assist with instrument cleaning, preparation, and transfer for sterilization. Participate in surgical debriefing and quality improvement activities. Post-Procedure Duties Secure dressings after incision closure. Ensure instruments and supplies are returned according to department protocols. Assist with operating room turnover and cleaning. Maintain accurate procedure records. Assist with patient transport to recovery areas. Support patient comfort and safety throughout the surgical experience.
