Job Description

Job Overview:
We are seeking to hire a talented Surgical Technologist to join our top-notch team. If you have previous Operating Room Surgical Tech experience, and are a hard-working professional please apply now. BLS required upon hire.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work with the surgical team under the direction of a registered nurse to provide care to the patient during the intra-operative period. a. Performs scrub duties according to procedure. b. Selects and organizes supplies and equipment specific to the proposed surgical procedure with an awareness of cost containment policies. Anticipates changes and makes adjustments in case preparation according to the variation in the surgical procedure. c. Performs all counts per protocol. d. Assists with OR circulating duties under the direction of a RN. e. Makes changes on preference list. 2. Participate in activities conducive to the safety of patients and team members. 3. Provide support during emergency situations. 4. Coach and precept staff in the scrub role and other roles in the OR environment. 5. Assist in the maintenance of inventory of OR supplies, equipment and Instrumentation. 6. Assist in patient transport and patient positioning. a. Wipe all horizontal surfaces of the O.R. with germicide, including open shelves and counter tops. b. Wipe overhead surgical lights with germicide (including inside, outside and boom arm) c. Position bed for proper procedure and cover with stretcher sheet. d. Using preference card, gather supplies for case and open using aseptic technique. e. Check that all supplies needed are in the room before scrubbing. f. Perform surgical scrub according to policy. 7. Intra-operative Responsibilities a. Perform necessary sponge, needle, and instrument counts before incision. b. Wear appropriate barrier protection. c. Anticipate needs of surgeon. d. Pass instruments, conscious of any breaks in technique. e. Perform final sponge, needle, and instrument count. f. Assist with cleaning patient and applying dressing. g. Clean back table, separating clean and dirty instruments. h. Remove gown and gloves before leaving room. i. Assist with moving patient. 8. Post-operative Responsibilities a. Back table taken to soiled utility for cleaning. Wear gloves while handling dirty instruments. b. Return clean supplies to proper place and file preference card. c. Return to room with table and help turnover room. d. Prepare for following case. 9. Restock room supplies. a. Pick cases. b. Wipe down furniture and anesthesia machine. c. Any other duties assigned.
Pay:
$26.00 - $35.00 per hour
