Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient positioning, draping, sterile instrument and supplies set-up effectively working with surgeon in OR. Assures instruments and equipment are ordered as per physician request. Prepare and organize surgical equipment, supplies, and instruments. Maintain disposable supplies and order supplies as needed. Demonstrates working knowledge of care and handling specimens, surgical instruments, supplies and equipment including flash sterilization. Assists in preparation of surgical procedures by anticipating needs of physician and patient. Prepares operating area safely and in an organized manner. Utilizes the surgeons preference cards and selects the appropriate supplies and equipment in a cost effective manner. Cares for equipment to prolong useful life. Prioritizes and uses time efficiently. Delegates tasks effectively to insure maximum productivity and functioning of the department Creates and maintains sterile field. Provides a safe, therapeutic environment for patient and families. Uses patient restraints appropriately. Works efficiently with physicians and RN's with respect to multispecialty surgical procedures done in the OR, with specialized equipment, trays and instruments. Demonstrates good use of personal protective equipment and universal precautions. All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Required:
Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program.
Preferred Education:
Associate's Degree - preferred. Active certification as a surgical technologist.
Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications Required:
One year of clinical experience as a OR Scrub Technologist. Bilingual (English and Spanish)
License, Certification, Registration or Designation Required:
BLS Card, ACLS Card
