As a Surgical Technologist II at UF Health in Gainesville, you will play a key role on the perioperative team, preparing and maintaining sterile fields and surgical instruments for a broad range of procedures. You will anticipate surgeon needs, ensure proper equipment and implants are available, and uphold the highest standards of sterile technique and patient safety. Responsibilities Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields and instruments for a variety of procedures Anticipate surgeon and team needs during operations, passing instruments and supplies safely Verify and prepare surgical equipment, implants, and specialty sets per procedure Assist with patient positioning, draping, and counting instruments, sponges, and sharps Adhere to infection prevention, sterile technique, and safety protocols at all times Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia to support efficient, patient-centered care Participate in orientation of new staff and contribute to continuous quality improvement Document required perioperative information and support regulatory compliance Required Skills Surgical instrumentation and tray setup Advanced sterile technique and infection control Operating room equipment operation and troubleshooting Perioperative documentation and counts Knowledge of surgical procedures and specialties Aseptic draping and patient positioning Emergency response in the OR setting Team communication in high-acuity environments Time management in fast-paced surgical settings Regulatory and safety compliance in perioperative services
