CERTIFIED SCRUB TECH PRN

Job Purpose:

The Certified Scrub Tech PRN provides assistance in the operating room by performing a variety of duties including preparing the operating room, ensuring the availability of instruments and supplies, maintaining a sterile environment, and assisting the surgical team during procedures. This role is on a PRN (as-needed) basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and sterile. Maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures, adhering to strict aseptic techniques. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide instruments and supplies as requested. Assist in positioning and draping patients. Handle specimens and surgical instruments according to established protocols. Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment after each procedure. Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and supplies used. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures related to patient care, safety, and infection control. Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team. Participate in continuing education activities to maintain current knowledge and skills. Perform other duties as assigned by the surgical team or supervisor.

Required Education:

High school diploma or equivalent Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Required Experience:

Minimum of one year of experience as a scrub technician in an ambulatory surgery center or hospital setting. Demonstrated proficiency in surgical instrumentation, sterile techniques, and surgical procedures. Experience with a variety of surgical specialties preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment. Ability to maintain a sterile field and adhere to strict aseptic techniques. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a surgical team. Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations. Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move patients and equipment. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for PRN coverage.
