This role is responsible for preparing the operating room, instruments, equipment, and patients while supporting safe, efficient surgical care. Key Responsibilities Perform surgical scrub duties and maintain sterile field throughout procedures Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and equipment for surgery Assist with patient preparation and positioning Apply aseptic technique according to established standards Anticipate surgeon and team needs during procedures Support care for patients across the lifespan with individualized attention Maintain composure in a fast-paced, dynamic surgical setting Operating Room Overview 5 operating rooms Cases scheduled Monday-Friday, 0645-1730 On-call coverage required (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) Specialties include: Cardiovascular Neurosurgery Orthopedics Ophthalmology Gastroenterology

General Surgery Trauma Minimum Qualifications Education & Certification Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist or Operating Room Technician program OR Minimum three (3) years of Surgical Technologist/OR Technician experience Current BLS certification Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred Skills & Experience Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to remain calm and adaptable in changing clinical situations Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (35-50 lbs) Repetitive hand and arm motions and prolonged gripping Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs of force Working Conditions Exposure to surgical environments including chemicals, body fluids, and communicable diseases Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Flexibility to support on-call scheduling needs About Queen's North Hawaiʻi Community Hospital Queen's North Hawaiʻi Community Hospital is a 35-bed rural acute care hospital located in Waimea (Kamuela) on Hawaiʻi Island.
