Responsibilities include assisting the Nurse Manager with surgical technologist staffing coordination, timekeeping management, performance evaluations, and participating in 2nd level coaching and/or disciplinary actions in partnership with leadership and People Services. Responsibilities Serves as the primary resource and support for the day-to-day needs of the surgical technologist team Supports onboarding, training, and mentoring of new team members Ensures quality, safety, and patient satisfaction goals are met during their shift Adjusts assignments and staffing coverage as needed; proactively resolves staffing conflicts Demonstrates ability to adapt model of care delivery to resources available Identifies and escalates safety concerns appropriately; actively participates in patient safety quality improvement initiatives Maintains unit readiness for emergencies, ensures emergency readiness-crash cart and other safety checks are completed per unit requirement Ensures adherence to policies, procedures, and protocols to promote caregiver and patient safety Models professional practice and upholds organizational values, including appropriate use of chain of command and internal communication tools (e.g., Patient Care Concern Algorithm) Maintains compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards Demonstrates knowledge of clinical standards, practices, and procedures within area of responsibility Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function Performs other related duties as assigned Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned Requirements and Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program or 2 years' experience in an operating room as a Surgical Scrub Tech and/or LPN or military training required Surgical Technician Certification (CST) required Minimum 5 years' surgical technologist experience required Previous leadership experience preferred BLS required Working Conditions Must be able to lift and move up to 35 lbs Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height Must be able to assist in patient transfer Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position Must be able to traverse with/without accommodation Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information Typical equipment used in a clinical job Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
