Job Description
Hopedale Medical Complex is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to support our surgical team in a part-time role. Responsibilities include preparing operating rooms, ensuring proper sterilization of instruments, setting up equipment, and assisting surgeons during procedures. The CST will maintain accurate counts, follow strict infection-control protocols, and support patient positioning and transport. This role works closely with surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses in a collaborative, community-focused environment. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to providing safe, high-quality care to our rural patient population. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms and surgical equipment for procedures Sterilize, organize, and maintain surgical instruments and supplies Set up surgical trays and verify equipment functionality Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies Maintain accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts Adhere to strict infection-control, safety, and sterile-field protocols Assist with patient positioning, draping, and transport to and from ORDocument and report equipment issues or supply needs Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff Support quality, patient-centered care in a rural hospital setting Required Skills Surgical instrumentation Sterile technique Operating room setup Infection control Surgical equipment operation Instrument and sponge counting Patient positioning and draping Medical terminology Electronic medical records (EMR) familiarity Aseptic technique
