Unit Assistant- Med Surg 4N

Unit Assistant Job, 8 hours day shifts with rotating weekends & holidays, Med Surg 4 North Powers Health is hiring a Unit Assistant for 4 North to work days at Community Hospital in Munster, IN. The 4 North Unit is a 24 hour medical/surgical unit located on the fourth floor of the hospital. Patients over the age of 12 years may be admitted to this unit; however the average age is 65. Most common types of patients admitted to 4 North include patients with respiratory conditions, fever, dehydration, renal failure, electrolyte imbalance, gastrointestinal conditions, post CVA, wound infection, orthopedic cases and general surgical cases.

Unit Secretary Roles and Responsibilities:

Performs general clerical duties and patient centered activities in a hospital nursing unit. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population served on a designated nursing unit. Assists with maintenance of accurate staffing records and special projects as directed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

High School graduate or equivalent. BLS Required Supplementary commercial school/college courses in typing, computer technology, medical terminology are desirable. 6 months experience as Ward, Clerk, Medical Assistant or Physician Receptionist preferred. Annual validation of skills and safety, infection procedures.
