• + Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.

+ Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.

+ Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.

+ Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.

+ Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.

+ Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.

+ Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.

+ Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.

+ Helps in draping sterile field.

+ Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.

+ Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.

+ Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• + Interpersonal Skills [Required] + Completion of validation skills [Required] + Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set up [Required] + Knowledge of sterilization techniques [Required] + Knowledge to anticipate critical emergencies of Specialty Call Team [Required] + Ability to organize, promote, and conduct relevant in-services on unit [Required] + Proficient in a minimum of 2 surgical specialties [Preferred] •

Education:

• + High School Grad or Equiv [Required] + Technical/Vocational School [Required] + Associate [Preferred]
• Field of Study:
• + Technical/Vocational or Associate's in Surgical Technology
• Work Experience:
• + 2+ years as certified surgical tech [Preferred]
• Additional Information:
• Additional Licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located. ​
• Licenses and Certifications:
• + Basic Life Support
• CPR Cert (BLS) [Required] + NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required]
• OR•Technician in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) [Required] •
