Job Description:
Assists nurses in providing patient care and support during the second stage of labor. Scrubs in as 1st or 2nd scrub for cesarean sections and assists in positioning, preparation, and draping procedures. Provides bedside patient care including vital signs, blood sugars, newborn baths, feeding, and repositioning. Sets up procedure/operating room with correct instruments and supplies for cesarean sections and circumcisions under the direction of the circulating nurse or OR scrub tech. Identifies unsafe or defective instruments/equipment and implements appropriate actions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to function as surgical scrub during cesarean sections
Required Education:
Associate Preferred High School Grad or Equiv Required Technical/Vocational School Required Field of Study:
Graduate from school of surgical technology or equivalent (e.g., military training program)
Work Experience:
1+ experience
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
Basic Life Support•CPR Cert (BLS)
