Surgical Technologist

Completion of accredited course in surgical technology. Experience with retina surgery is preferred. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Tech is responsible for assisting surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses in the care of patients in the operating room.
The Surgical Tech:
  • Maintains knowledge & practice of aseptic technique.
  • Assists the circulating nurse in preparation for the surgical procedure & during turnovers between procedures.
  • Prepares sterile field for surgical procedure, ensuring proper instruments and supplies are available for use.
  • Anticipates needs of surgeon & the passing of instruments & supplies.
  • Functions as assistant when needed during the surgical procedure.
  • Obtains counts with circulating nurse.
  • Cares for specimens according to procedure.
  • Maintains equipment, supplies, and environmental safety.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends in surgical procedures & instrumentation.
The Center is open Monday through Thursday.
NO FRIDAYS, NO
WEEKENDS or ON-CALL. Work hours/days may vary.
