Job Description

Category Nursing - ORT Job Type Contract Seeking a skilled and certified Surgical Technologist/Nursing professional with strong Operating Room Technician (ORT) experience to deliver top-tier care in a dynamic surgical department. This is a contract opportunity on a 10-hour day shift (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM), with on-call and rotating holiday call responsibilities, as well as scheduled weekend rotation. Candidates should be flexible, with the ability to float as needed across multiple units and facilities within the healthcare network, ensuring exceptional patient care and seamless departmental workflow.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or ORT, with up-to-date credentials Minimum 18 months of relevant experience in Med/Surg/Tele settings (Resource Team experience preferred) Strong background in general Med/Tele nursing, including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, medication administration, and various drain/tube management Active BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS preferred Familiarity with Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitoring systems Willingness and ability to float between multiple healthcare facilities within the region
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment for procedures, ensuring all materials are sterile and functioning Support surgical teams and registered nurses in the OR, providing scrub assistance and anticipating needs during operations Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including CNAs, charge nurses, hospitalists, and other support personnel Rotate holiday on-call assignments and participate in regular weekend scheduling Float as required among facilities and units while remaining adaptable to rapidly changing assignments Take the next step in your surgical technology career—contribute to quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced hospital setting.
