Required Advantage Staffing Services is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist for a full-time contract assignment in Artesia, New Mexico. The CST will support the surgical team by preparing operating rooms, maintaining the sterile field, anticipating the needs of surgeons and assisting with a variety of surgical and procedural cases. Candidates proficient across multiple specialties are preferred; however, the department can adjust assignments to accommodate individual strengths and experience when operationally feasible. Surgical Specialties The surgical services department performs: Orthopedic surgery General surgery Urogynecology Urology Endoscopy Pain-management procedures Experience in all specialties is a plus but is not required. Candidates should clearly identify their strongest specialties when applying. Schedule Monday through Friday 6:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m. Full-time weekday schedule Anticipated start in mid-October 2026 On-Call Requirements Call participation is required and includes: One weekday of call each week One weekend approximately every five weeks Weekend call begins Friday after scheduled cases and continues through Monday at 6:45 a.m. Essential Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms for scheduled surgical and procedural cases Select, assemble and organize instruments, supplies and equipment Establish and maintain the sterile field throughout each procedure Perform surgical counts accurately and in accordance with facility policy Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other members of the surgical team Pass instruments, sutures and supplies safely and efficiently Verify the availability and proper functioning of surgical equipment Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation and draping as permitted Handle specimens according to established procedures Monitor sterile technique and immediately report any break in sterility Assist with room turnover, cleaning and preparation between cases Follow infection-prevention, safety and quality-management standards Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses and other team members Participate in required weekday and rotating weekend call Cross-train or support additional surgical specialties based on experience and department needs Minimum Qualifications Completion of an accredited surgical technology program Current Certified Surgical Technologist credential Current Basic Life Support certification Recent operating-room or surgical-services experience Working knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation and infection-prevention practices Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent situations Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment Ability to participate in the required call rotation Strong communication, organization and teamwork skills Preferred Qualifications At least one year of recent CST experience Proficiency in more than one surgical specialty Orthopedic and general-surgery experience Experience supporting urology, urogynecology, endoscopy and pain-management procedures Previous call and emergency-case experience About Advantage Staffing Services Advantage Staffing Services is an RN-owned healthcare staffing company committed to integrity, responsive support and quality patient care.
