Operating Room Technician / Surgical Technologist

Capital Region Ambulatory Surgery Center (The Bone and Joint Center), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Operating Room Technician (Surgical Technologist). The Surgical Technologist plays a key role on the surgical team by preparing and maintaining supplies, instruments, and equipment, while assisting in procedures and ensuring the sterile environment of the operating room. Candidate will be working with 30+ different orthopaedic surgeons providing assistance in a range of ambulatory orthopaedic surgeries. All members of our staff provide assistance with room turnover, cleaning, and preparing of rooms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assemble and prepare surgical instruments and supplies for each procedure Maintain sterility and monitor for breaks in sterile technique Anticipate surgeon's needs during procedures and maintain an efficient surgical field Assist with gowning/gloving, draping, and proper handling of specimens Handle post-op clean-up and room turnover Support infection control protocols and quality assurance activities Perform equipment sterilization and decontamination Maintain accurate records including biological testing and sterilization logs

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required Completion of accredited surgical technologist program OR minimum 2 years of surgical tech experience Certification preferred CPR certification (or willingness to obtain during probationary period) Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus during procedures Ability to stand for long periods, and perform light lifting and bending
