Job Description

Salary Range The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $28.27 to $43.41 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements. The Impact You Can Make Glens Falls Hospital is seeking detail oriented Surgical Technologists like you to join our Operating Room team! This opportunity will allow you to refine your surgical technologist skills while working closely with surgeons, registered nurses, and other professionals on our OR team. The Surgical Technologist role is essential for ensuring a sterile and efficient environment and procedure. Always works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. How You Will Fulfill Your Potential (Responsibilities) Provides surgical support by maintaining a sterile environment, following surgical asepsis and universal precautions, and preparing operating rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures. Assists with instrument, sponge, and sharps counts; ensures equipment is functioning safely; and follows policies for handling, cleaning, storing, and disposing of instruments, supplies, and sharps. Supports patient care by assisting with positioning, transport, specimen handling, and emergency response. Helps maintain infection control, environmental safety, and operating room readiness, Assists with surgeon preference updates, supply management, staff orientation, on-call emergencies, Use of computerized information systems in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. What You Bring (Qualifications) Education/Accredited Programs High School Graduate, or equivalent, with proof of previous experience as a Surgical Technologist—a cumulative period of two years. Graduated from a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization, or in the process of obtaining his or her certified surgical technologist credentials. Completed a military surgical technology program.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:
BLS Certification required (can be obtained after hire) Skills/Abilities Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with other patient care staff, patients and physicians. Work effectively with other nursing staff, patients, physicians, and members of other departments under the direction of an RN. Recognize patient care problems, react appropriately in patient care emergencies and communicate pertinent information to the responsible RN. Ability to complete basic mathematical calculation. Dependable, alert and adaptable to change in situations; exercises safe judgment in decision making.
