In this vital role, you will assist surgeons and healthcare professionals during surgical procedures by preparing operating rooms, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring all surgical equipment is functioning properly. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and infection control practices, contributing to safe and efficient patient care. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where precision, attention to detail, and excellent patient care are paramount. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and ensuring all equipment is ready for surgical procedures. Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and other necessary supplies while maintaining aseptic technique. Monitor vital signs and patient status throughout procedures, providing critical support in emergency situations. Maintain accurate medical records and document surgical procedures using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic. Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent contamination. Support preoperative and postoperative patient care activities, including patient positioning and wound management. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesia, nursing, and physicians to optimize patient outcomes. Demonstrate proficiency in suturing techniques and basic life support (BLS) procedures when required. Assist with data collection related to surgical outcomes and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Maintain a safe, organized environment within the operating room while complying with hospital policies. Qualifications Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program; additional certifications such as BLS are preferred. Proven experience in OR settings with exposure to diverse surgical specialties including trauma centers, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or medical-surgical units. Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Experience working within hospital environments utilizing EMR/EHR systems such as Epic for documentation. Strong understanding of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and acute care procedures. Prior experience in ambulatory surgery centers or similar outpatient facilities is advantageous. Excellent analysis skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently under pressure. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments requiring critical thinking and adaptability. This role is integral to delivering exceptional surgical care while supporting the health and safety of our patients.
