As a Surgical Services Support Technician in the OR, you will have opportunities to interact with patients while transporting them to designated areas. In addition to performing various technical support tasks, your role is essential to ensuring a safe and sanitary operating room environment. A caregiver in this role works days from 5:30 a.m. -- 2:00 p.m. with a Saturday rotation to support Saturday surgeries. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Safely transport patients to designated areas per nursing requests. Assist nursing caregivers during surgical cases as requested. Maintain and control support services equipment and supplies. Maintain the OR in an aesthetically safe and sanitary condition. Escort and direct customers to the appropriate source for assistance. Provide a safe environment for patients and their families. Comply with entering job tasks in electronic computer software programs. Assist nursing service with prepping and shaving patients for surgery. Coordinate and maintain Uniform Room activities such as locker assignments and scrubs for all O.R. personnel. Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste. Comply with special cleaning requests for radioactive waste and infection control surgical cases. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or obtain within the new hire period One year of customer service experience Experience working in a team environment Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Sterile processing experience Experience working in a procedural area
